What you'll do at work
This apprenticeship can offer you the support, training and industry recognised qualifications to get you on the path to a career in the Legal Profession.
Your key duties:
- Engage fully with your apprenticeship training programme, making the most of expert learning sessions, coaching and practical opportunities. Complete all modules, activities and assessments on time, building confidence and capability as you progress
- Apply your growing legal knowledge to real cases and tasks, working both independently and alongside experienced colleagues
- As your confidence develops, you’ll take on increasing responsibility and play an active role in helping the team meet its objectives
- Maintain accurate apprenticeship records, including a logbook and portfolio or work, capturing the projects and experiences that demonstrate your development. This will showcase how your learning has translated into real-world legal work
- Successfully complete your end-point assessment, demonstrating the professional behaviours, legal knowledge and technical skills needed to achieve your Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship and take the next step in your legal career

- assist in administering procedures using most effective channels to progress caseloads.
- conduct legal research using selected sources such as legal databases.
- solve legal technical problems within their remit and escalating as needed.
- present findings from legal research in line with organisational expectations.
- assist in applying the principles of Law to stakeholder cases.
- assist with legal matters and transactions within the organisation.
- communicate using plain English to provide clarification and explanation of the legal process and standard legal terms.
- organise and administer workflow such as legal files, case management and accounting systems to progress work within service level expectations.
- carry out file management activities such as prepare and collate bundles, take and file accurate notes, close and review files, maintain databases and version control.
- use a range of digital tools and technologies, for example to draft legal documents, conduct legal research, carry out data analysis and collaborate with others.
- apply fraud protection measures and cyber security procedures in relation to transactions, keeping up to date with approaches.
- undertake activities to ensure a clear picture of a stakeholder’s needs and risks throughout legal transactions.
- assess risks and benefits to the stakeholder of different options and making recommendations to senior team members to ensure that they work in the stakeholders’ best interests.

About this employer
Our Legal Team plays a central role in supporting the organisation, providing clear, practical advice across areas such as contractual work, intellectual property licensing, regulatory matters and specialist legal research. As a Level 3 Paralegal Apprentice, you’ll be an active member of the team throughout the apprenticeship programme, contributing to real legal work that helps the Met Office deliver its aims.
