Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The apprentice will support the delivery of high-quality PE, sport, and physical activity sessions within primary schools and community settings. They will work alongside experienced coaches to assist with planning, preparing, and delivering engaging, safe, and inclusive sessions for children aged 4–11.
Duties will include setting up and organising equipment, preparing learning spaces, supporting behaviour management, and ensuring a safe environment at all times. The apprentice will help deliver curriculum PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs, and holiday camp activities.
They will also assist with monitoring children’s progress, completing basic assessments and reports, maintaining accurate records, and supporting children’s overall development. Throughout the role, they will build positive relationships with pupils, school staff, parents, and colleagues while developing their own coaching knowledge and skills through ongoing training and mentoring.

Training schedule
We will arrange your training to fit around your schedule. The training will be delivered online, with tutor sessions held bi-weekly via Teams.
- You will receive a Level 4 Sport coach Apprenticeship Standard qualification
- The training will include online courses, webinars, classroom-based sessions, and on-site visits in the workplace
- If you do not have existing qualifications in maths and English, you will need to attend Functional Skills sessions alongside your apprenticeship
