Work

What you'll do at work

This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of auctioneering in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Trainee Auctioneer, you will gain hands-on experience in the auction process, develop your public speaking skills, and learn how to engage with bidders effectively. This position is ideal for those with a passion for auctions, sales, and customer interaction.

To support our in-house photography team in preparing high-quality images for auction catalogues and online listings. This is an entry-level role designed for someone looking to develop practical photography and studio skills within a professional auction environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and conducting of auctions, including cataloguing items and setting up the live online auction
  • Learn to conduct live auctions under the guidance of experienced auctioneers
  • Engage with clerks during auctions, providing information about items and encouraging participation
  • Maintain accurate records of bids and sales during auctions
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations before, during, and after each auction event
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance your auctioneering skills and knowledge of the industry
  • Prepare and Photograph auction items including jewellery, watches, handbags, antiques, art, collectibles, and silver
  • Set up and maintain studio lighting, backgrounds, and camera equipment
  • Ensure images are sharp, well-lit, colour-accurate, and consistent across catalogues
  • Capture required angles and detail shots (e.g. hallmarks, signatures, condition issues)
  • Name, organise, and upload images correctly to the auction management system
  • Work closely with cataloguers and admin staff to meet auction deadlines
  • Handle items carefully, following auction house handling and security procedures
