What you'll do at work
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support our finance department while undertaking an apprenticeship in working towards a full AAT qualification.
This apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to develop their skills in accounting, with a
particular focus on the telecoms industry. You will receive full training and guidance in financial reporting, bookkeeping, and financial analysis, working closely with the FC to support day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the processing of invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance
with company and regulatory policies - Help maintain accurate records of transactions and account reconciliations
- Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Act as the first point of contact with customers for finance related queries
- Provide financial analysis and reporting related to telecoms services and projects
- Support the team with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Liaise with internal departments to gather financial data and assist colleagues withany finance queries
- Participate in the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong interest in accounting and finance with a desire to pursue a career in this field
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software is advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across different departments
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule
Gaining the AAT Level 3 (AQ2022) qualification
Studying the following modules:
- ITBK - Introduction to Bookkeeping (An additional module for any candidate who hasn't completed a Level 2 AAT qualification)
- FAPS - Preparing Financical Statements
- MATS - Management Accounting Techniques
- TPFB - Tax Processes for Businesses
- BUAW - Business Awareness
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
