Summary

GEDA are currently seeking to recruit a Construction Site Engineer Apprentice for our sites across East Midlands. You will be responsible for providing support to the Site Engineers in the design, build, operation, and maintenance on one of our exciting projects.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Please note that the address quoted in the vacancy description is Kegworth which is one of our Head Offices, not the locations you will be working from.

This is a great opportunity to get first-hand experience with a successful and growing Construction and Civil Engineering company, where you will be given the chance to develop your skills and experience.

The Role:

  • Reading, interpreting, and providing clear communication of construction drawings onsite for layouts, material measurements etc.
  • Effectively influencing the progress on sites and ensuring programme deadlines are met
  • Developing effective relationships and dealing with clients and subcontractors
  • Working closely with all other team members to ensure that the Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety aspects of the work are adhered to during your project phase on site
  • Continually developing your knowledge in the industry, communicating, and implementing best practice guidance to line managers and relevant staff
  • Learn how set up and use surveying equipment such as laser levels and EDMs
  • Assist the Site Engineer with setting-out activities under supervision to competent
  • Support with manipulating CAD drawings
  • To undertake any other duties as allocated

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

More training information

  • The apprenticeship programme start date at college is September 2026 at our Basford, Nottingham campus one day per week during term time for 3 academic years
  • However the company are looking to interview & appoint the candidate before then
  • The closing date is 5th March so please apply in plenty of time even though the apprenticeship doesnt commence day release until September

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English & maths (grade minimum 4 or C or Level 2 pass)

BTEC in:

Construction In The Built Environment (grade Pass)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
