Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Assisting in the daily control, management, and coordination of site activities
- Assist with developing, maintaining and delivery of robust detailed project plans for the Delivery Team
- Keeping a detailed diary of works planned and carried out by sub-contractors
- Ensuring our sub-contractors are working to the latest programme of works, are signed up to the relevant method statements and checking they understand what is required
- Contributing to site progress meetings
- Building positive working relationships with sub-contractors
- Solving issues on site and monitoring risks
- Ensuring health & safety is adhered to, including site inspections, and conducting site inductions.
- Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is received, reviewed and communicated where necessary
- Logging and resolving any defects found and challenge current methodology by putting forward innovative ideas
- You will be involved in all aspects of construction project delivery from concept design, through to planning, construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
- Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
- Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
- Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
- Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
- Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
- Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.
Training schedule
Initially, you will be studying a level 4 qualification in Construction Management at Anglia Ruskin University, with the option to progress to a level 6 qualification afterwards.
