Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • As a Surfacing Supervisor Apprentice, within the Surfacing Solutions business you’ll be involved in all aspects from operational, commercial and administration. This is a 24/7 operation so flexibility to working hours is key
  • You will undertake theoretical and practical training to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required to ensure you have a thorough understanding of all areas

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Any (2 in addition to English/Maths/Science) (grade 5)
  • English (grade 5)

Other in:

Related - Engineering/Construction/Maths/Physics (grade Pass or above)
