You’ll complete the Food and Beverage Team Member Level 2 apprenticeship with HIT Training, combining one‑to‑one coaching, workplace learning and online study. You’ll build skills in customer service, food and beverage service, communication, teamwork and fast‑paced hospitality. Functional Skills provided if needed.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This role supports the delivery of high‑quality food service across multiple canteen locations at Princess Yachts in Plymouth. As a Food Service Assistant, you will provide friendly customer service, prepare and serve food to a high standard, and help maintain clean, safe and well‑organised service areas.

This is a permanent, Monday - Thursday role with no evening or weekend work. The position involves travelling between up to five sites within a 10‑mile radius, so a full UK driving licence would be advantageous.

Duties include:

  • Serving food and providing professional, friendly customer service
  • Preparing food and supporting daily catering operations
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across food preparation and service areas
  • Travelling between multiple canteen sites as required
  • Following food safety, health and safety and company procedures
  • Supporting the wider team to ensure smooth daily service
  • Complete daily food diaries and relevant paperwork

  • Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.
  • Maintain and rotate stock according to life cycle and business processes.
  • Ensure equipment and technology faults and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
  • Check customers are satisfied with products and services through questioning and act on feedback in line with business procedures.
  • Keep up to date with changes to products and processes.
  • Uses feedback to improve own performance.
  • Reduces the waste of resources, taking sustainability into account, in line with business expectations.
  • Follows and supports equity, diversity and inclusion legislation and principles.
  • Participate in team briefings, implementing instructions, and offering input or feedback where relevant.
