An exciting opportunity has arisen within a family run security company based in Blyth, Northumberland. Due to continued expansion within the business, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Multi Discipline Security Engineer.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Assisting a senior engineer with routine planned preventative maintenance works and re-active corrective maintenance works.
- Assisting a senior engineer with small works as required.
- Assisting the installation team with the installation, commissioning and handover of electronic security systems.
- Working to system specifications/plans/drawings.
- Liaising with end users/clients on site of Practice.
- Completion of other associated paperwork and documentation.
- H&S training/tool box talks via our H&S portal.
- Applicants should have good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Probationary period applies.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Comply with safety legislation, codes of practice, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and apply control measures.
- Complete functionality tests of systems and components during commissioning systems.
- Apply and implement system design, planning and installations including additional components to existing systems.
- Carry out takeover procedure, diagnose and repair faults.
- Operate ICT equipment and systems to store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive digital data and electronic information.
- Comply with environmental and sustainability, regulations and standards.
- Complete functionality tests of systems and components during handover of systems.
- Carries out risk assessments.
- Communicate with others verbally for example, internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers using sector specific terminology.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, as part of a team. Consult and engage with occupants or others who are or could be affected by work (for example vulnerable, older, and disabled people) and respond appropriately.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector specific terminology through written means.
- Plan and install systems cabling.
- Carry out maintenance activities on fire detection and alarm systems and their components.
- Carry out maintenance activities on intrusion alarm, access control, video surveillance (CCTV) and their components.

Training schedule
Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Level 3 apprenticeship in addition to internal training and development within the role.
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
Full driving license preferred but not essential – must be able to get to the Blyth office for an 8:30am start.
Applicants should be willing to undertake security screening (as per industry standards).
You will be required to attend combination of weekly/fortnightly day release sessions at Access Training on Team Valley in Gateshead.
