Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As a Client Management Apprentice, you can make an immediate impact by demonstrating a real passion for customer service and develop the skills needed to become a valued advisor to our clients.

What your day could look like:

  • Supporting the delivery of client plans and project management
  • Assisting in day-to-day retirement services, including drafting reports and newsletters for trustees
  • Attending and planning face-to-face client meetings or conference calls, taking minutes, and managing the follow up actions
  • Playing an active part in delivering client satisfaction, retention and profitability
  • Carrying out administrative tasks contributing to the retirement and investment consulting process
  • Inputting data accurately to maintain management information

Your Development:

As an Aon Apprentice you will be enrolled onto our development Programme when you join. This programme is built around 3 core elements:

  • Business learning - on the job learning and experiences giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the team and solution line you have joined
  • Centralised learning - UK apprentices complete in an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to help you develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business
  • Professional Qualifications - we want you to be as successful as possible, so we’ll fully support you through the Level 4 Junior Management Consultant programme. A Junior Management Consultant plays a critical role in managing the day-to-day operation of workplace pension schemes who is likely to be involved in a variety of tasks supporting more senior consultants. Subject to certain criteria being met, we will also fully support you through the Level 6 Retirement Provision Pathway qualification with the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) following the completion of your apprenticeship programme, including paid study leave, plus access to an extensive range of study and tuition materials provided by the PMI

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • S1Communication skills: Speak and write clearly, influence others, actively listen, question effectively and structure conversations. Support or run meetings and clearly present a point of view to audiences. Communicate appropriately through a variety of channels and platforms
  • S2: Team working skills: Work effectively within a group environment made up of different personality types. Be aware of one’s own and other people’s emotions and use this understanding to guide decisions
  • S3: Business analysis: Use a range of tools and methodologies to help analyse an organisation (such as SWOT analysis). Undertake qualitative and quantitative research
  • S4: Relationship building: Build rapport and trust, maintain relationships once they are built and be able to repair them when they are damaged
  • S5: Personal management: Manage time effectively and prioritise workloads. Take time to reflect on project successes and learn from failure. Maintain good health and energy through a work / life balance
  • S6: Project management: Plan, organise and manage resources in order to achieve set goals. Help create objectives at the start of a project, support the development and implementation of project plans and help monitor progress. Proactively identify risks and issues and help create action plans to address these.
  • S7: IT technical capabilities: Be able to assist in the creation of reports, word processed documents, spreadsheets, slide decks for presentation and software for project management. These are the most prominent, though there are others depending on the consultancy
  • S8: Report writing: Help produce reports that clearly present recommendations for change using a range of qualitative information and numerical data

Training schedule

You will work towards your:

  • Junior Management Consultant Level 4 Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
  • Training will be via Davies, virtually. Off the job training calculated in line with the apprenticeship duration

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 GCSE's incl. Maths & English (grade Grade C / 4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

112 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels (or equivalent) or 280 UCAS points for exams sat prior to 2017 (excluding General Studies) i.e. BBC.

Once you’ve completed the formal apprenticeship programme, you’ll continue to receive lots of support at Aon. We would expect you to be promotion ready within 24 months and you will continue to grow your career at Aon. You will also be able to continue your studies within the Junior Management Consultant career path. Alongside the interactive development programme we’ve mentioned above, you’ll have the chance to explore different career paths.

Once you have completed your 18-month Apprenticeship, your training and development doesn’t stop there, you will continue your professional development taking on more client responsibilities.
