We work in a fast-paced environment, so you will need to adapt to change. You will be liaising closely with the Land, Technical and Construction Departments from design through procurement and construction.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
There are 5 Quantity Surveying roles based in West and South London, Slough and Watford.
The Commercial Department is responsible for organising materials and contractors used in the build process, for on-going costs and contract management for a project. The team works closely with the technical and construction departments to ensure that what is being built is accurate, on time and to budget.
Tasks could include:
- Logging data into Excel or Word
- Assessing changes to scopes of work
- Meeting with contractors to discuss variations
- Processing payments

There are 5 roles available for Commercial (Quantity Surveying) apprentices across London, Slough and Watford.
Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
- Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
- Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
- Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
- Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
- Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
- Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.
Training schedule
- The Commercial (Quantity Surveying) apprenticeship will last approximately 27 months which will be delivered by a college with face-to-face sessions in London. It is planned to be a day release model
- Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment - Quantity Surveying
- Functional skills level 2 in English and maths if required
