Summary

Are you ready to kickstart your career in sales and customer management? We’re looking for enthusiastic people to join our Sales Apprenticeship and become the next generation of our Nestlé Sales Team. As an apprentice, you’ll get real, hands-on experience in a busy, exciting business.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Sales and negotiation: How to manage the full sales process—from finding new customers to closing deals—and develop strong negotiation skills to get great results
  • Digital and data skills: How to use digital tools and social selling to connect with customers, plus how to read and use data to make smart sales decisions
  • Customer and stakeholder relationship management: How to build great relationships with customers and work well with different teams across the business
  • Communication and problem-solving: How to give engaging presentations, communicate clearly, and solve real business challenges in creative ways
  • Professional growth and ethics: How to lead projects, adapt to new situations, work with different people, and always act with honesty and integrity

You’ll experience student life at Leeds Trinity University which typically involves week-long learning blocks.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Working with others: Influential, able to conduct stakeholder analysis and develop strong relationships at all levels, internally and externally, to build trust. Interacts professionally and ethically maintaining a positive and flexible attitude. Demonstrates emotional intelligence.
  • Consultative Selling: Works with customers to identify new business and market challenges, utilising insights and good questioning and listening techniques. Identifies strategic & innovative solutions integrating products and excellent service solutions, to meet customer needs.
  • Pitching: Leads a confident, clear and compelling sales pitch in front of a customer, which builds rapport, establishes credibility and delivers commercial benefit. Handles questions, objections and demonstrates the value of the proposal in a clear, quantifiable way.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Applies the principles of negotiation, develops strategies and tactics to a mutually agreeable outcome, ensuring both customer and supplier leave committed to the outcome.
  • Psychology of Sales: Critically reflects on the different psychological needs of customers and other key stakeholders in the buying/selling process. Takes into account strategic and organisational context when adapting their sales approaches, by using the psychological models pertinent to developing positive and ethical buyer and seller relationships.
  • Leveraging Digital Business: Adopts different approaches to social selling & digital technologies which aid the sales process. Develops a digital selling strategy that leverages social selling to support lead generation, nurturing and customer engagement. Develops digital networks and drives insight-led engagements. Measures results and return on investment.

Training schedule

  • Managing key customer accounts: Supporting the execution of commercial plans that drive growth. Gaining real experience to see the impact of your work
  • Building and nurturing relationships: Across both internal stakeholders and external buyers, developing your stakeholder management and customer engagement skills
  • Delivering impactful presentations: Supporting and leading commercial meetings over time, to resolve operational matters and showcase your negotiation and storytelling abilities
  • Analysing data and market trends: Informing sales strategies; optimising trade spend, and driving performance for Nestlé’s core categories (Food, Nutrition, Coffee, Confectionery)
  • Problem-solving and innovating in real-time: Tackling commercial challenges and identifying opportunities for growth and sustainability while working with people from all parts of the business, helping to build a fantastic network

Plus, you’ll have one day a week dedicated to your studies. This is your time to focus on the theory behind sales, work on your degree modules, and reflect on what you’re learning on the job. You’ll be able to apply your new knowledge directly to your work, helping you grow even faster.

You’ll experience student life at Nottingham Trent University with week-long learning blocks.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths & English Language (grade A*- C or 9-4)

Other in:

Any (grade 120 UCAS points or more)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

  • You will have the right to work in the UK that is not time-limited and does not require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route either at the start of the scheme or on completion
  • You will have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the start date of this apprenticeship scheme
