Summary

This is an exciting opportunity, to complete an Accounts Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be looking to develop their knowledge in accounting in a fast-growing business. You will be recording, processing and reconciling the petty cash accounts, plus more.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties:

  • Entering and reconciling any paid out/petty cash receipts from stores, including contacting store managers for any missing receipts and passing information to payroll/HR as required
  • Recording, processing and reconciling the petty cash accounts
  • Liaise with staff to request receipts prior to the generation and submission of deduction reports to payroll
  • Recording and processing the monthly refunds and liaising with staff to request receipts prior to generation and submission of deduction reports to payroll
  • Assisting the accounts team with monitoring the stores daily banking including monitoring of any variances and missed banking
  • Posting cash banking entries onto accounts software and reconciling bank accounts on a monthly basis
  • Maintaining accounts with energy suppliers including obtaining and submitting meter readings, reviewing bills and dealing with any ad-hoc queries
  • Completing daily administration duties, including scanning, filing, minute taking and date entry in accordance with company policies and industry standards
  • Using 20% of working hours for off the job studies which you responsible for organising and managing

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule

Level 3 Assistant Accountant standard, which includes:

  • Level 3 AAT Assistant Accountant Certificate 
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Blended on/off the job training and location to be confirmed

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
