Summary

We are looking for 10 apprentices to join us in a very exciting period of growth.  The role will involve following cGMP, SOPs, and health & safety guidelines. Supporting manufacturing tasks like bulk preparation and filling. Assisting with equipment, report issues, and complete documentation accurately.

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

What you'll do at work

We are looking to recruit 10 Production Apprentices as we enter a period of exciting growth.  If you're looking to get into science manufacturing role, now is the perfect time. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work safely at all times by following current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and health & safety requirements.
  • Support manufacturing activities under supervision in areas such as bulk preparation, filling, packing, cleaning, and operational activities, in line with approved procedures.
  • Assist with basic equipment operation and report any equipment issues or breakdowns to the Shift Leader or Line Manager.
  • Accurately complete required documentation, including logbooks, BMRs, BPRs, and other approved records, with guidance where required.
  • Participate in training and development activities in line with the apprenticeship programme and training matrix.
  • Ensure full compliance with SOPs and GMP requirements in all work areas, including gowning, de-gowning, entry/exit procedures, and emergency processes.
  • Report any non-conformances, deviations, or safety concerns immediately to the Shift Leader or Line Manager.
  • Support dispensing activities when trained and authorised.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and demonstrate professional behaviour at all times.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned, appropriate to the level of training and supervision.

  • Select, check, and prepare raw materials for biotechnology process for example, weighing, measuring, control and blending, conditioning, dissolving, and sanitisation.
  • Conduct pre-checks of hand tools, equipment and machinery for biotechnology process including calibration record where applicable.
  • Connect service connections for biotechnology process such as water, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic.
  • Operate biotechnology equipment for example, start-up, shut down, or cleaning mode.
  • Set and adjust biotechnology process parameters such as agitation revolutions per minute, temperature, pressure, flow rate or time.
  • Check calibration and calibrate analytical equipment.
  • Conduct at point analysis of the product using laboratory techniques (bench top analysis) for example, pH, conductivity measurement, optical density measurements, and protein concertation.
  • Apply quality assurance procedures. For example, conduct parameter checks (size, colour, weight), and take samples for laboratory testing.
  • Remove and replace disposable components and check functionality for example, break lines, isolators, and tri-clamps and tube welding.
  • Conduct aseptic method for example, aseptic technique or aseptic sampling.
  • Interpret drawings and graphs.
  • Select, check, and prepare raw (incoming) materials for aseptic process for example, weighing, measuring, conditioning, dissolving, and sanitisation.
  • Conduct pre-checks of hand tools, equipment and machinery for aseptic process including calibration record where applicable.
  • Operate aseptic process equipment for example, start-up and shut-down.
  • Set aseptic process parameters such as temperature, and pressure.
  • Conduct pre and in-process checks such as environmental monitoring.
  • Make adjustments to aseptic process parameters.
  • Clean equipment and process areas in-between production to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Conduct volume checks.
  • Calibrate analytical equipment.

Training schedule

Successful candidates will complete a level 3 Science Manufacturing Apprenticeship. 

Delivery will be blended with online and in person teaching.  The candidates will complete an end point assessment at the end of their 3 years to pass the apprenticeship.

GCSE in:

  • Maths (grade 4)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

Science (grade 4)
