Summary

This is an opportunity to join a local, fast expanding company! You will be working various machines to develop an understanding and knowledge of glass variations and technical drawings. You will learn unique skills to enable you to handle and cut glass safely using CNC Optimisation Equipment and manual techniques.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Working alongside an experienced and supportive team you will develop an understanding and knowledge of glass variations in terms of coatings, patterns and applications. You will work to a high degree of accuracy and quality, you will learn how to handle glass safely and cut glass of various types, shapes and thicknesses, using automated CNC Optimisation Equipment, as well as manual techniques.

The successful applicant will be

  • Methodical with a high attention to detail,
  • Able to work as part of a small team as well as on their own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, good IT skills and preferably an interest in science and engineering.
  • Good core GCSEs are essential.
  • Enthusiasm for and interest in engineering and machine operations
  • Commitment to the work and maintaining and developing the organisation’s reputation and customer base
  • Ability to work with others and enjoy team working
  • Pro-active and positive attitude applied to all tasks – large and small
  • Demonstrable ability to work accurately with high precision
  • Ability to follow instruction and work to schedule
  • Ability to maximise own productivity and make efficient use of time

Training schedule

Training will take place on a day release basis at Hull Training’s engineering centre. Working towards Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3 or D)
  • Maths (grade 3 or D)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
