Pay is £10,054.99 per annum based on working (30 hours and 25 minutes) over 43.78 weeks per year – 38 weeks working in school and 5.78 wks paid holiday. Pay is £7.55 per hour for the 43.78 weeks

What you'll do at work

Irthlingborough Nursery and Infant School are looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join their team. They need someone who has a genuine interest in working with young children in Early Years or Key Stage 1 and is willing to learn how to support children with Special Educational Needs.

  • In this role you will develop your understanding of the EYFS and KS1 curriculum and show a commitment to helping pupils build their social and communication skills.

  • You will be required to work 30 hours 25 mins per week Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year. Daily hours are 8:45 am – 3:20 pm with 30 minutes for lunch. Please note that holidays cannot be taken in term time, but an allowance for holiday entitlement is paid accordingly.
  • College attendance will be once a week at the Kettering Tresham College Campus which will begin in February 2026.

  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

College attendance will be once a week at the Kettering Tresham College Campus which will begin in February 2026.

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant.
  • Functional Skills in English and maths (if required).

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 9 to 4 (A* to C))
  • Maths (grade 9 to 4 (A* to C))
