Summary

The manufacturing activity undertaken in the facility includes the modernisation of trains, repair of electronic equipment and the repair & overhaul of traction equipment. The site is currently undertaking several prestige projects for train companies you will be familiar with.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Line of routes
  • 5s
  • Primary fault finding/reporting
  • Basic maintenance competency, e.g. side skirt cleans, brake pads, block changes etc
  • Depot cleaning/general housekeeping
  • SAP and SES input
  • CMS logbook to be updated accordingly
  • Preventative and Corrective maintenance (Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Depot or fleet specific requirements where required
  • Wheel Lathe Operator
  • Workshop repairs
  • Understand and abide by safety notices, rules & regulations and follow safe working practices, H&SAWA and COSHH
  • Work in conjunction with Alstom’s lifesaving rules
  • Comply with and enforce Alstom’s Zero Deviation Policy (AZDP)
  • Working inaccordance to Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI)

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 Subjects including Maths, English & Science (grade 4-9)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
