Hours
The first year training will be held at MGTS centre in Redditch, when back on site after the first year the hours will be - Monday - Thursday, 8.00am – 4.30pm. Friday, 8.00am . 3.00pm. All days include a 15-minute breakfast break and a 30-minute lunch break.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Through this Apprenticeship you will train as an Apprentice Toolmaker, where you will undertake a structured training program of academic study and workshop work.

The successful individual will gain first-hand experience of, but not limited to the following:

  • Setting and operation of conventional centre lathes
  • Milling and grinding
  • Operation of E.D.M
  • Basic fitting techniques
  • Benchwork and associated techniques
  • Checking and inspection of tools made in house and externally
  • Understanding both in house and customer supplied engineering drawings

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths (grade 9-5)
  • English (grade 9-4)
  • Science (grade 9-4)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

Any two other subjects (grade 9-4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
