Summary
You will gain experience across a selection of finance areas such as Purchase Ledger, Credit Control, balance sheet reconciliations, posting journals, invoicing and month end processes. This apprenticeship will also give a great insight into how a business operates and how to communicate with stakeholders.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Maintain financial and accounting records using our software package in a timely manner for reporting purposes (e.g posting purchase ledger invoices and matching against POs)
- Assist with month and year end reporting (journal posting, invoicing, reconciliations)
- Assist with credit control procedures such as payment chasing and posting cash receipts to customer accounts
- Collaborate with people internally and externally to ensure customer needs are met

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Grade 9 – 5 / A* - B)
- Maths (grade Grade 9 – 5 / A* - B)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
This apprenticeship is completed over an accelerated 14-month period. Because of the shortened duration, applicants are required to have at least a grade 5/B in both Maths and English. Previous experience or qualifications equivalent to AAT Level 2 are also desirable. You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. In some cases, you may be required to have a telephone conversation with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.

On completion of Level 3 AAT, the successful candidate will be given opportunity to progress to Level 4 AAT and potential further accountancy qualifications.
