Summary

Long Eaton based Accountants, Brand Accountancy Ltd are recruiting a Trainee Accountant to assist in managing their client's day to day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organisational skills and accuracy are important for this position, as well as good client relations and the ability to communicate clearly.

Wage

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • All aspects of bookkeeping processes for clients
  • Preparation of VAT returns, reconciliation of control accounts and preparation of management accounts as required
  • Dealing with client queries in an efficient and professional manner
  • Effective communication both internally and externally on all information exchange systems
  • Ensuring a high level of customer service is provided to all clients
  • Actively work as part of the team
  • Undertaking administration and support duties as necessary

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be
expected to work towards the Accounts Assistant Level 2, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.

Apprentices will be required to take one of the professional qualifications listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role:

  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
  • ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2)
  • IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping
  • ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C Or Equivalent)
  • Maths (grade 4/C Or Equivalent)

Other requirements

This is a blended role where you will be working from home at times, on location and in the office. Brand Accountancy Ltd are in the process of relocating their office to a premises within Long Eaton. You will be required to attend day release into Chesterfield College during term time, there is free on site parking for students, or the train station is across the road from the campus.

After this apprenticeship

There is a full-time opportunity available at the end of the apprenticeship and progression to Level 3 and Level 4 for someone who can demonstrate technical competence, initiative and a willingness to learn along the way.
