Summary

In Planning, you will play a key role in supporting the planning function on allocated projects and contribute where required. You will support the effective project management and delivery of our projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and profitably.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Contributing to plans with full awareness of logistics/site project constraints
  • Connecting constructively with the Project Team
  • Contributing to the production of the weekly progress report to the project team
  • Understanding functional obligations under form of contract
  • Reviewing and capturing productivity to measure progress
  • Communicating effectively with the client and stakeholders
  • Supporting sustainable design and procurement process within integrated programmes
  • Supporting health and safety through programme integration
  • Establishing and overseeing project work plan and deadlines
  • Undertaking tasks required to full fill the requirements of the project/assignment

You will also work towards completing a Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship, where you’ll achieve a HNC in Construction Site Supervision. We will also support you in gaining professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Surveyors (CIOB). Following completion of your Level 4 apprenticeship, you will progress onto a Level 6 BSc Construction Management.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 GCSEs, including Maths & English (or equivalent) (grade 4 or above)

A Level in:

96 UCAS Points (grade or equivalent)
