Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Tudhoe Colliery Primary School is one of seven schools which forms part of Tudhoe Learning Trust. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join us for a period of up to 18 months. The role is based in Tudhoe Colliery Primary School and offered at 32.5 hours per week and on a term-time basis. Within your apprenticeship you may be required to work in different year groups, supporting teaching & learning in a variety of ways, including group work and one-to-one support, with the aim that all pupils can access our curriculum. The apprenticeship will commence once conditional offer checks are completed.

  • An understanding of current statutory guidance including ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ Part 1, Safeguarding policies, prevent strategy
  • Recognise different stages of child development through school e.g. transition between key stages and year groups
  • Support and encourage pupils to move towards independent learning

  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
  • Business Administrator L3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional skills in Maths and English if required

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

Maths and English (grade Grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
