What You'll Be Doing:

  • You will be studying towards a Level 3 Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship whilst having the opportunity to work in role gaining hands on experience in the insurance industry as part of our Motability team, giving you the foundation to launch your careers in insurance
  • As part of the qualification you will also achieve your CII Certification in Insurance

In your day-to-day role you’ll be reporting directly to the Technical Claims Team Leader where you'll settle a variety of third-party property liability claims as economically as possible while maximising the speed of settlement and safeguarding the company’s reputation. You'll become an integral part of a centre of technical excellence for property liability claims, where you'll provide advice and guidance to colleagues and other business areas within Direct Line Group.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting our customers to provide them with worry-free motoring and a lifeline to the outside world
  • Working within a variety of departments to understand the customer journey and the claims life-cycle
  • First notification of loss
  • On-going servicing of customer claims and dealing with third-party claims
  • Understanding and gaining exposure to our Counter Fraud detection and preventative initiatives
  • Introduction to financial compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Practical experience to master case management systems
  • Identifying, owning, and managing the risks involved in running our business following framework

What You’ll Need:

  • An interest in financial services and be looking to take the first step to develop your insurance career
  • Helpfulness and a passion for customer service, using your excellent communication skills to drive great customer service
  • Empathy and understanding to be able to deal with distressing situations to find the right solutions for our customers and provide reassurance throughout the lifecycle of the claim
  • The ability to manage a complaint to fruition whilst having difficult conversations

Our hybrid model way of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone. When you'll be in the office depends on your role, but most colleagues are in 2 days a week, and we'll consider the flexible working options that work best for you.

During your first 3 months there may be the requirement to work from the Liverpool office full time whilst you gain experience in role.

Training schedule

  • By becoming an apprentice at DLG, you’ll be able to combine on-the-job practical skills with theoretical knowledge from off-the-job learning, giving you the best opportunity to develop your career in the insurance industry
  • You will be paired with a dedicated DLG mentor who you will report into, they will support your training every step of the way by providing tailored coaching and support
  • You will attend both online and face-to-face learning support sessions and there is an End-Point-Assessment for this apprenticeship where you will demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and behaviours

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 GCSEs (grade A-C/9-4 or equivalent)
