The surgery is open between 8.00am & 6.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday & open until 8 pm every Thursday. Your weekly hours will either be 8.00am - 4.00pm or 10.30am - 6.30pm. You will also take a turn working late night on Thursdays

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Please note that full training will be given in each area of your role and you will always work with an experienced colleague
- To meet and greet patients, relatives, carers and visitors to the practice in a friendly and courteous manner
- Telephone triage patients who require an appointment with the doctor
- Respond to requests for assistance and direct enquiries as appropriate
- Ensure that patients without appointments but who need an urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Assist with the registration of new patients
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts
- Action requests for ambulance transportation
- Ensure the reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
- Ensure that consultation rooms are prepared for each session, forms restocked etc and left tidy and secure at the end of the session
- Deal with both incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Action repeat prescription requests to ensure they are ready for collection within 48 hours
- Taking patient requests for appointments and auctioning cancellations on the computerised system
- Retrieval of filing of records as required
- Ensuring letters, test results, reports and other correspondence are filed accurately
- Routine administration including photocopying, faxing, scanning, replenishing of stationery and ensuring computer and office equipment remains in good working order

Training schedule
Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
- We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship which you will attend in person at our designated training site/campus
- These workshops are carefully designed to support the learning required throughout the apprenticeship programme
- You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
- You will experience a blended learning model
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade A-C/4-9)
- Maths (grade A-C/4-9)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

About this employer
Pleasley Surgery is a purpose built GP Practice, With 2 G.P’s,1 Nurse, 2 Health Care Assistants and the admin team, the surgery provides high quality medical care to local residents. They are looking for an apprentice to become part of their frontline team supporting the reception function of the surgery and also providing valuable support in an administrative capacity, as they are a small team you will gain experience in all areas of the administration function of a surgery. This is a diverse and fast paced job, you must be able to communicate with confidence and in a professional and friendly manner as you will often be the first point of contact for patients coming into the Surgery. You will maintain a polite and professional approach to patients, promoting a positive and friendly image to patients, staff and visitors either in person or over the telephone. The ideal applicant will have an interest in I.T, be willing to learn, enjoy working as part of a team and able to deal with demanding patients. You will be supported by a workplace mentor to ensure you are taught the skills needed to succeed in this role and you will also receive regular workplace visits from your college specialist to enable you to complete Customer Service Level 2 apprenticeship.
After this apprenticeship
- Upon successful completion of this level 2 apprenticeship there will be an opportunity to progress onto a level 3 business administrator apprenticeship
