What you'll do at work

This apprenticeship opportunity, facilitated by Robert Bosch Ltd, awaits you at your local Nissan dealership. Here, you'll immerse yourself in all facets of the technician role as you embark on your apprenticeship journey.

For those with a passion for cars, Nissan offers top-tier training on the latest products and innovations, guided by dedicated Nissan trainers who will nurture your knowledge and skills. Training sessions will take place both at the workplace and at the Nissan Training Centre in Doncaster.

Commitment to the Apprenticeship Programme for 3 years, along with a drive for growth and excellence, is all we ask. Additionally, a minimum grade 4 in maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent is required.

Your responsibilities will encompass a range of duties including automotive repairs, adherence to car checklists, learning repair techniques, estimating costs, vehicle inspection and testing, battery testing, and vehicle and engine disassembly.

What you'll learn

  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop. Segregate waste for disposal or recycling. Comply with industry environmental legislation.
  • Demonstrate due regard for own safety and that of others in the workshop and minimise risk of injury and vehicle damage.
  • Carry out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle.
  • Obtain diagnostic and repair information.
  • Interpret diagnostic information and use electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability.
  • Use a range of diagnostic equipment.
  • Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults.
  • Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions.
  • Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs including those which involve complex procedures, or in depth knowledge.
  • Test the function of repaired and fitted components.
  • Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures.
  • Use ICT to create emails, word-process documents and carry out web based searches.
  • Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer.

Training schedule

This opportunity is a Motor Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship administered by Robert Bosch Ltd. Training takes place at the Alliance Training Centre in Doncaster on a block release basis. This means your college-based training will occur away from home, necessitating stays in a hotel for 17 separate weeks (Monday to Friday) over the 3-year duration of the course. The employer/program covers all associated training costs, eliminating any expenses for you, your parents, or guardians. Assessments will also be conducted in the workplace by a dedicated training assessor, while you'll have a workplace mentor assigned to provide support within the dealership.

Upon completion, you'll attain the Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Level 3 qualification.

GCSE or equivalent in:

Maths & English (grade 4)
