Minimum starting salary £23,662.08 (36 hours per week). 20 days pro rata plus a personal day - rising to 22 days after 12 months (plus Bank holiday). Access to free wellbeing services with a range of resources to support your mind, body, and life.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- You'll get to learn all areas of retail as well as getting hands-on practical experience of working in different areas of our store
- You'll get to work as part of a team as well getting to know and serving our customers and colleagues
- You'll get to know your customers and serve them with passion and pride; giving great natural service
- You'll get to take part in seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Communicate with customers to meet their requirements and encourage customer loyalty and repeat business.
- Serve customers in line with brand standards, legislation, business procedures and the values of the business.
- Provide a retail service that balances the customers’ needs with additional linked products and services.
- Use face to face or online sales techniques such as product and price comparisons to support or influence the customer in their purchasing decisions.
- Promote seasonal or local offers through in-store or online promotions.
- Identify situations that may damage business reputation in line with company policy and escalate as required.
- Maintain good merchandising to meet the needs of the business whilst ensuring safety.
- Maintain stock levels and storage conditions such as correct temperature, lighting, ventilation, packaging to meet customer demand and minimise stock loss.
- Use technology and applications to support sales and service ensuring that maintenance issues are reported.
- Support team and colleague development through buddying and/or coaching.
- Comply with regulations and legislation relevant to their role and business.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities which focus on improving sustainability within the business.
- Handle complaints within remit or escalate as appropriate.
- Support sales across a range of promotional events throughout the calendar year.

Training schedule
- The apprenticeship is delivered in store and takes a minimum of 12 months to complete
- You’ll spend time doing a range of activities from completing learning on a tablet device you're provided with, to putting in to practice your learning on the shop floor
- Once you've completed the programme, you'll be awarded your Level 2 National Standard in Retail, which is equivalent to 5 GCSE passes
- We know that working and learning can be a challenge, that’s why you’ll have a network of people to support you, from expert 1-1 pastoral support from the King's Trust to a dedicate Lifetime apprenticeship coach, they'll be someone there every step of the way. You'll also be welcomed by our friendly store team and given a buddy who will be on hand to offer advice as well as guide and support you throughout your time with us

Other requirements
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you may need to achieve qualifications in maths and English called Functional Skills. These qualifications are the equivalent to holding GCSEs in those subjects. If you’ve previously achieved these at Grade C/Grade 4 or above, you won't need to complete these as part of the programme.
