Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive, busy, and friendly team as a warehouse operative apprentice. You will gain experience in many warehousing duties, as well as working towards a recognised qualification, and earning a wage!

£14,722.50 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Picking and packing customer orders using computer-generated pick lists.
  • Checking incoming goods to ensure they match delivery paperwork.
  • Labelling and packing finished goods for dispatch.
  • Organising and putting away stock, including palletised goods.
  • General warehouse housekeeping to maintain a tidy and safe workspace.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong attention to detail – accuracy is key!
  • Great communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • A positive team player – we’re a friendly bunch!
  • Ability to work efficiently to deadlines – keeping up with demand.
  • Physical stamina – some products weigh up to 15kg, so heavy lifting is required.

Things to Consider:

  • Our warehouse is located on an industrial estate in Riddings, with limited public transport access. We’re happy to discuss flexible start/finish times if needed to accommodate public transport.
  • This is a physically demanding role – you’ll be on your feet, lifting and moving stock all day!

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Training schedule

  • In addition to gaining practical experience in the role, you will also attain an NVQ Level 4 Sales Executive qualification which will help start your career and give you an insight into the business' processes and procedures
  • Our training is all completed remotely via Teams with a development coach, who will be available for support
  • You receive 20% off-the-job training during this apprenticeship, which is included in your weekly working hours

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English and maths (grade 3)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
