Summary
This position will enrol you on a furniture manufacturing apprenticeship with Leicester College. You will be trained as a Cabinet Maker/Bench Joiner, working in a modern workshop environment to produce high-end bespoke furniture and displays for domestic and retail sectors.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Initially shadowing senior joiners with entry level tasks to get an understanding of procedures and processes. You will be given some simple assembly tasks and also be trained on using power tools and machinery such as table saw and router (subject to age) and will expand on this as you progress through your training
- Assisting the team in completing projects on time
- Completing assembly tasks under supervision
- Preparing finished items for despatch
- Assisting in general workshop duties
- Maintaining tools and equipment
- Emptying offcut bins and general house keeping
- Learning and understanding joinery best practices

Training schedule
The apprentice will complete training for Furniture Manufacturing Level 2 on a 3-day fortnightly block release at Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus. Includes Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 2/D)
- Maths (grade 2/D)
