Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Supporting our team of engineers in maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting industrial computer systems
- Refurbishing and testing industrial control system parts and modules
- Assisting with system upgrades and software installations on control equipment
- Preparing and documenting maintenance reports carried out on equipment and systems
- Helping to diagnose faults using specialist test rigs and diagnostic tools
- Processing part orders and updating internal records
- Supporting our team on a day-to-day basis in the running of the business
- Attending customer sites alongside experienced engineers (some travel required)
- Participating in technical training sessions and shadowing senior team members
- Keeping the workshop organised and maintaining tools and equipment
- Assisting with stock control, booking in parts and managing inventory systems

Other requirements
Candidates must be able to travel to our premises reliably each day. Due to our location, access to personal or reliable public transport is important. As skills are developed, there will be opportunities to stay away from home on site visits later in the apprenticeship, predominantly at power stations within the UK and occasionally across Europe. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered. The role involves hands-on technical work in a workshop and industrial environment, so a practical mindset and willingness to get involved are essential. Applicants should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
