Summary

Express Coaching Services Ltd (ECS Ltd) is working in partnership with West Notts College to offer an apprenticeship in School & Community Sports for students attaining their Level 4 Qualification. The course element will start from September, but the role could start earlier to upskill.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and delivering coaching sessions:

This includes designing activities, drills, and game scenarios to develop skills and strategies. To assist in the coordination and implementation of lesson plans for a range of sporting opportunities in various environments, particularly in PE and the school curriculum, morning, lunch, and after-school club sessions, and holiday camps, where applicable.


Increasing participation through sport

To assist in increasing participation through high-quality delivery and content of PE and Sport. Building good professional relationships with key staff. Implementing and following all methods of good practice laid out by ECS Ltd and other partner organisations.


Promoting a safe and inclusive environment:

Ensuring students feel comfortable, respected, and included in the coaching sessions. Assist in adapting sessions for young people of all abilities and disability and encourage inclusion throughout.


Teaching and demonstrating sports skills:

Coaches instruct students on the correct techniques and strategies for their chosen sport.


Providing feedback and encouragement:

Offering constructive criticism and positive reinforcement to motivate students and help them improve.


Supporting students' physical and psychological development:

Helping students achieve their full potential in sport and building confidence.


Promoting healthy lifestyles:

Encouraging students to adopt healthy eating habits and stay physically active. Helping them to grow and succeed.


Sessional administration

Maintain all necessary paperwork relating to the monitoring (including register for the session if applicable) and evaluation of sessions. Implement the highest standards in terms of registering and handling data. When

required to safely dismiss children and ensure they are collected safely to their dedicated grown-up unless otherwise notified by the school of this


Other ECS Activities

To take on any other work that ECS Ltd may deem to be appropriate & need you to do from time to time, in particular, Mansfield Giant Basketball Club and assisting in delivering the ECS Inclusive Sports and activity provision where applicable. To ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all ECS Ltd equipment.

Your training plan

Working towards a Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeship standard.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Derby Road Campus (NG18). This attendance is required during term time only.

You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

ECS Ltd is an ever-expanding coaching company that delivers not just sports coaching but also event delivery within Nottinghamshire, across the region, and the UK. We deliver daily through school sport PE provision and PPA cover in Mansfield and surrounding areas, but also deliver sports days, Glow in the Dark Sports, Children’s Yoga, Inclusive sports and activities through wheelchair sports across the UK. We are also partnered with Mansfield Giants as a basketball club, and our coaches support the club.
