Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Harrod in Lowestoft as an Apprentice Warehouse & Despatch. The successful applicant will be working alongside the existing team renowned for its quality service within the Sporting Manufacturing industry.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Reporting to superior for daily tasks which include but not limited to assisting the warehouse staff with storage, stock and moving of goods
  • Administration tasks for despatch such as collation of order input and processing of orders – new and returns
  • To assist the finishing team to gain knowledge of all Harrod products and understanding of department processes
  • Learn full duties of the loading bay – working alongside the team to accomplish targets and improvement ideas
  • Perform other duties set out by the Warehouse & Despatch superiors
  • Preparation of potential export orders
  • You should be able to work accurately and to tight timescales

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
  • Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.
  • Conducts handover activities.

    • Each current team member will help the apprentice to gain knowledge of all processes
    • Most training will be provided in the warehouses and loading bay, more hands-on training
    • Training will be 5 days per week, time off from shop floors to complete admin work for their qualification
    • L2 Supply chain Operative Warehousing qualification after completion

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • English and Maths (grade 4)

We manufacture sporting equipment for various events such as the Olympics, world cups etc. We still stand as number 1 sports equipment in the UK. Our Horticultural side manufacturing various garden equipment such as arches, structures, planters and furniture.
