The Crown and Castle hotel is situated in the heart of Orford, a peaceful village just a few miles south of Aldeburgh, on the Suffolk coast. Good food is at the heart of the Crown and Castle.
The successful applicant will be working within the kitchen learning key food preparation skills. The Apprentice will be shadowing, learning and developing with our chefs whilst they are cooking and plating dishes.
They will be assisting in all aspects of food preparation, as well as in maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in compliance with regulations.
The apprentice will start at commis level and will develop skills to reach the desired standard, progressing through different areas of the kitchen.

Incorporation onto the Kitchen Team as Commis Chef with the opportunity to graduate to Chef de Partie.

Things to consider

The role does involve being active in a hot kitchen but you will be learning from scratch and mentored by experts.

We are offering £6.50 per hour rising to £7.30 per hour once qualified. 4 days per week plus 1 day off site training. Split shifts plus some straight shifts totalling approximately 40 hours per week

It is mandatory for all applicants to have a WSC interview before being forwarded for a job. If you contact the employer directly you will not be considered for this role.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully funded by government. Training for apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded with employers expected to make a part or full contribution

From October 1st 2016 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies.
