Estio Training has an exciting new opportunity for an IT Service Desk Apprentice at Covea Insurance; the position is based in Halifax. Our company is the UK underwriting business of the leading French mutual insurance Group Covéa. We offer competitively-priced household and motor insurance, along with a range of commercial insurance products designed to meet the needs of most businesses, through a nationwide network of intermediaries.

We handle the insurance needs of over 1 million policyholders, delivering financial reassurance through our Standard & Poor’s A Positive rating, as a guaranteed subsidiary of Covéa. Covéa is number 1 for property and liability insurance in France and served over 11 million policyholders generating 15.5 billion Euros in premiums in 2013.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To support the IT department in the delivery of an efficient and cost-effective service, by providing customer service and operations support.
  • Acts as single point of contact for customers.
  • Log calls and track them to resolution using the Service Desk software.
  • Adhere to internal processes to deliver quality of service.
  • Maintain a strong focus on ensuring the services we deliver meet the needs of our business and provide advice to the business where required to define requirements.
  • Achieve a high service level within the business and meet tight deadlines.
  • Supports the Service Desk Lead by constantly evaluating and making recommendations on how to improve the services offered to customers.
  • Pro-actively reviews processes and process documentation, taking personal responsibility for flagging any problems or miscommunication.

Team Focus:

  • Support other team members by providing any training or support to assist in the completion of 2nd line tasks.
  • Provides constructive feedback to 2nd and 3rd line management and staff regarding service complaints.
  • Liaises with all company personnel regarding IT issues.

Performance Focus:

  • Carries out all tasks in line with departmental processes and procedures.
  • Identifies and escalates situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Logs, tracks, escalates and audits all calls within the Service Desk system.
  • Assists in maintaining asset registers, licence details etc.
  • Actively maintains the staff information in Active Directory as outlined by Management.
  • Completes a regular schedule of operational tasks as instructed.
  • Manages own workload to ensure delivery of tasks is completed to meet expectations of Management.
  • Undertake other duties over and above those listed in the job description, appropriate to the individual’s skills and experience.

Training provider

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive eleven weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
