Who is Sonocent?

Sonocent is a fast growing bootstrapped start-up with a big vision – “Helping people harness the power of spoken language”. We have developed technology that enables students, teachers and professionals to effectively use audio recordings to enhance learning and productivity. We strongly believe we can change the world with our ideas and in time, we can fundamentally change the way that we as humans utilise spoken language in all areas of life.

Our passion is helping students, including those with special educational needs, to significantly improve a broad range of core skills from note taking to speaking, listening and comprehension. For tens of millions of students around the world, difficulty in effectively reading or writing is a barrier to learning. We want to remove that barrier by supporting the development of those skills with our technology.

Currently over 110,000 students at more than 300 institutions around the world are using our software to be more successful at university. Our software is proven to make a significant difference to learning outcomes and in some cases it has taken students from the point of failure to a B or an A, as evidenced in our white papers and case studies.

We have been growing steadily since we started in 2007 and have even picked up some notable industry awards along the way; including ‘Company of the Year’ at the 2015 BETT awards and a Deloitte Fast50 Award for being one of the country’s 50 fastest growing tech companies. This is an exciting time for us as we enter a period of rapid growth, fueled by high customer demand and significant partnerships with some big names in the education sector. It’s going to be a wild journey and we’re looking for exceptional individuals to help us

What sort of person fits in at Sonocent?

  • We are Curious, Aspiring, Real and Effective. We summarise our values with the acronym ‘CARE’, as everything we do comes from that desire.
  • We are Curious, never taking things at face value and always trying to dig deeper. We are Aspiring, constantly striving to better ourselves and reach bigger and more audacious goals. We are Real people who are genuine and humble (with a fair helping of personality). Finally, we are Effective, doing excellent work that makes maximum impact. If you think this describes you, then we’d love to have you join our team.
