    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide opportunities for children to develop individually through play.
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop socially through play.
  • Take part in play with children.

Qualifications required

  • Basic Maths and English skills but if you are looking to go onto your level 3 you will need to have, at least, GCSE, or equivalent, grades A*-C in maths and english.

Possible progression onto level 3 apprenticeship if funding is available.

Training provider

You will be assigned an assessor who will be working with you once a month to go through your apprenticeship work with you. You will be working towards your QCF level 2 in children and young peoples work force. All work will be done at the setting so no college days are required.
