Fathom IT:
A well-established IT company working in the northwest since 2001 supplying computer and print hardware, complete IT systems and a wide array of technical services to businesses, healthcare and educational establishments - providing excellent levels of service and reliability in all areas.
As an IT Support Engineer, your main duties will be:
  • To perform all workshop and On-site tasks keeping accurate records of labour
  • To monitor Primary contact clients and communicate on a regular basis
  • To provide telephone support and keeping within allocated time limits
  • To perform on-site visits to end users
  • To set priorities for all tasks to create a daily job list
  • Run cable and learn termination skills
  • To answer all incoming phone calls
Other Duties Include:
  • To carry out any other reasonable request made by the Company
  • To provide sales support when requested
  • To ensure own workshop area kept tidy at all times
  • To ensure test equipment is organised and in working order

Personal qualities

A bright, enthusiastic and hard-working individual with a genuine desire to learn and to build a career within the IT industry. They should be a friendly personality, able to work as part of a team. We want a positive, can-do attitude from someone who isn’t afraid to ask questions and where necessary, challenge why things are done the way they are, who will drive improvement and add value.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with little or no direction.
  • Computer literate with a good level of knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to plan own workloads
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Clean driving licence or keenness to learn to drive.

Qualifications required

5 GCSE’s at grades A*- C or equivalent (including English Language and Maths),

Training provider

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive nine weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

Training will lead to industry-recognised qualifications including:
  • Advanced apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals
  • Level 3 Diploma in Professional
  • Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
