Apprentice Care Worker

Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
An Apprentice Support Worker is required for a busy dementia care home based in Branksome.
Duties will include;
- Helping to organise activities for the residents
- Meeting and greeting visitors to the home
- Offering food and drink to the residents
- Engaging in social activities with the residents
Requirements and prospects
Good communication skills would be beneficial in this role.
A caring nature would be appropriate for this role.
None - This is an entry level position.
Possible further progression with the home and progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care.
Things to consider
Working in the care industry it will be expected that you will undertake shifts, you should not exceed your contracted hours (unless you agree to) but your start and finish time may vary. It will also be expected that you will work some weekend days and have days off in the week in lieu of this.

From the 1st October 2015 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is in force for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The rate is a minimum of £3.30 per hour.
This NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
