The position would involve working with the existing Warehouse Assistant Manager and the Depot Manager so you’d be part of a team. It’s a busy position – with 3-400 orders a day processed from existing stock.

Its a great way to stay fit and enjoy a busy job where time goes very quickly. There’s a mix of goods coming in that need organising and orders that come in every day that need to be processed before 1500.

You do need to be fit and healthy – the job does include lifting. Its important to be accurate in your packing, polite in your interaction with clients coming into the warehouse and friendly with your other team members. Accuracy is very important, and you need to be quite organised.

Duties include:
  • Sameday: booking, allocating
  • Overnights: checking, allocating,
  • Warehouse: checking, allocating, picking and packing
  • Driver sheet filing and check: pods, complete, and filing,
  • Help with the carrier invoices
  • Inform clients of returns an input them back into stock where required
  • Send daily warehouse reports
  • Put inbound freight into stock physically and on Realtime despatch
  • Book on shipments
  • Scan rico stock in and out to engineers or picks
  • Ensure warehouse is kept clean and tidy
  • Using excel

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Physically fit (job involves some lifting within government health and safety guidelines) and be able to work accurately under pressure – its very busy!

Qualifications required

IT Literacy, Maths and English GCSE C Grade or above or equivalent.

Future prospects

  • Progressing from Warehouse assist, to assistant manager, and other operational roles.

Training provider

The successful candidate will undergo a full company induction by their mentor/manager.

They will then complete Apprenticeship Training, delivered by Weir Training. This will include a QCF in Warehousing at Level 2. It may also include Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1.

From October 1st 2015 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.”
