Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

If you’re looking for an apprenticeship that will really take you places, then look no further! As an apprentice in the Land Rover dealer network you’ll be part of a team that achieves what are almost certainly the highest completion and pass rates for any apprenticeship in the industry.

You’d be working exclusively with one of the world’s greatest and most sought after brands. You would be working in the service department reporting to the Service Manager. You will be learning how to maintain and service cars to the high standards of Jaguar and Landrover.

Duties will vary on a day to day basis.

Duties may include:

  • Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers’ guidelines 
  • Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components 
  • Advising the Service Receptionists about required repairs 
  • Producing time estimates 
  • Maintaining repair and service records

Confident with great customer relations skills and good communications skills required

Personal qualities

You will need to evidence a passion for the motor industry, be hard working with a keen interest to learn new skills

Qualifications required

GCSE grade A – C in Maths, English and ICT (or equivalent ) and one other subject preferably a Science. This will be checked

Future prospects

Many opportunities for promotion within the company for the right person and future training available particularly to Advanced Apprenticeship ( Level 3)

Other information

From October 1st 2015 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
