Estio Training has an exciting new Apprentice Software Developer position based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

RefreshIT are specialists in Microsoft products, Networking and Disaster Recovery & Data Recovery. We install and support Microsoft based networks ranging from small SBS installations to large multi-site and multi-domain networks. Case studies and references are available.

We have years of extensive experience supporting MS Exchange, SQL, CRM, Thin Client Systems, Cisco networking and a wide range of hardware vendors including HP, Dell, Fujitsu and IBM. We are accredited as a Microsoft Small Business Specialist and we partner with companies such as Microsoft, Ontrack and Eset (NOD32)

We are currently looking for a Software Developer apprentice who is ambitious and has a good work ethic. The candidate will be taught about IP, SNMP and WMI for the network monitoring project. This network monitoring is quite an exciting and unique project. This kind of experience is not easy to come by. The role won’t involve a lot of customer interaction, but they do need enough personal skills to build a little rapport and speak in layman’s terms when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with customers to solve IT issues.
  • Monitoring and management of networks using the correct software
  • Working on several internal projects (project usually written in VB.Net)

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Basic understanding of HTML, XML, PHP (lots of technologies will be taught)
  • Good levels of communication
  • Proactive approach to work with a high level of enthusiasm for program development – the company are always keen to learn new things and discover better ways of solving problems.
  • A keen interest in learning all of the above skills

  • Enjoys learning about new technologies, both professionally and personally
  • Logical/analytical thinker
  • Quick learner with fantastic problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and customers of varying ages and backgrounds

Qualifications required

  • 5 GCSE’s at grades A*- C or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Training provider

The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive eleven weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

From October 1st 2015 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
