    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

16 Hospitality has announced the launch of The Hub, a new training program offering some of the most varied and practical hospitality training in the UK.

The inclusive hospitality training programme is open to all ages, whether 18 or 65, all year round. The only requirements are that applicants hold no previous experience and have a strong work ethic and an inherent passion for succeeding within the industry.

We are looking for a keen individual to work at The Swan, Tarporley as an Apprentice Commis Chef.

The successful candidate will be carrying out all aspects of preparing and cooking food from basic level progressing to advanced

Reporting to the executive chef, your main tasks as a commis chef will include:
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting food in line with The Swan's consistently high standards
  • Making sure that food is served promptly
  • Monitoring food production to ensure consistent quality and portion size
  • Stock control of the fridges and larder
  • Following relevant hygiene, health and safety guidelines where full training will be given

Other information

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.30 per hour from the 1st October 2015. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
