Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
Apprentice Childminding Assistant will be required to complete the following day to day duties:
- Interact with the children
- Plan and carry out activities for the children
- Communicate with other staff members and parents
- Take responsibility of a key group of children
- Follow the policies, procedures and routines of the setting
Requirements and prospects
- A good level of written and spoken English
- Experience working in a childcare setting is desirable
- Happy and friendly
- GCSE all grades (or equivalent)
- A current DBS check is desirable
On completion of the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce, you may be offered the opportunity to progress on to the Level 3 Advanced Diploma.
Things to consider
The role requires a lot of physical activity working with children for the majority of your day. You will need to speak to parents and other staff. You will have to fill in paperwork on a daily basis and will be required to take children out when necessary.

Apprentice Nursery Assistant will be employed up to 16 hours per week & will be required to attend 1 study day per month on a Saturday from 10am - 4pm. You will be required to complete tasks both at work & at home which will need to be handed in the following month. Your employer will appoint a work based mentor to support you & you will get a dedicated training manger from Smart Training.
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded:
- Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce
- Level 1 Functional Skills qualification in Maths, English and ICT
- Employment, Rights and Responsibilities qualification

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.30 per hour from the 1st October 2015. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
