Summary

This a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic apprentice to join a well-established family business in a customer-facing retail sales role with strong opportunities for progression, learning and development. We work as part of a large national group franchise operation but are a small friendly team at Worksop.

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

United Carpets require a Customer Service Apprentice for their Long Eaton branch, the shop is open 7 days per week and the Apprentice will be required to work 5 days per week including weekends and bank holidays and annual leave is 20 days per year. The ideal person must have good customer service skills, be numerical and have good English language skills and be physically fit and must also be able to work on their own or as part of team.

The Worksop branch is a retail sales shop dealing with the public and all aspects of paperwork and financial elements involved, the right candidate must be physically fit as the role involves taking receipt of cut length carpets, underlay and rolls of carpet that have to be racked up.

Specific duties to include:

  • Greeting and serving customers
  • Answering telephone enquiries
  • Taking in carpet stock deliveries
  • Measuring Carpets for Customer and arranging delivery/dispatch
  • Displaying stock
  • Dispatching stock
  • Processing paperwork
  • Maintaining shop appearance

  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
