Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you'll be initially responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • The maintenance and repair of pressure vessels and related industrial equipment
  • Communicate effectively with clients and insurance inspectors
  • Work to quality standards required for the components/vessels
  • Use a variety of manual equipment to complete tasks as required, such as cutting gaskets, removing/stripping steam valves
  • Use lifting equipment, working at height equipment and gas detection safety equipment (once trained)
  • Inspect and prep removed components
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and productive work area for colleagues and yourself
  • Adapting to various working environments and site-based challenges (temperature, weather conditions etc.)

The successful candidate will continue their studies with apprenticeship specialists, RNN Group at their Worksop campus on a day release format, giving you the training and support you need to become an all-rounded and successful Engineer.

GCSE in:

Maths & English (grade A*-C/9-4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

This is a successful small business with a fantastic reputation that works to a tight schedule. They are looking for someone who can get to them in a morning punctually (think about the location of the business and transport links), listen/learn and use their own initiative to quickly become a valued and productive member of the team.

A level of flexibility is required due to changing work locations and start times. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial.
