Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Your training and responsibilities as an Apprentice Fabricator/Welder, will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Carry out welding activities including use of a MIG/TIG welder, and other ancillary machinery and equipment
- Creating complex plate fabrications, utilising machinery such as a band saw, circular saw guillotine, rotabroach, pedestal drill
- Accurately follow job cards and update accordingly
- Understand and read engineering drawings/symbols
- Ensure correct marking up of component parts
- Work to quality standards required for the components and to maintain the ISO 9001 accreditation
- Weld joints in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements (TIG, MIG)
- Undertake final inspections of finished components
- Maintaining a clean, organised and productive work area for colleagues and yourself
- When trained, ensure job timings are met/exceeded
