Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Support for the teacher:
- Assist in ensuring that the learning environment is safe and purposeful for the pupils at the beginning and end of the day.
- Ensure that all resources and equipment are clean, hygienic and ready for use.
- To support children and young people in all areas of learning under the direction of the teacher or HLTA.
- Monitor pupils responses to learning activities and record achievement and progress as directed.
- To encourage positive behaviour for learning.

- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule
Candidates will complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard over 15 months of practical training and after End Point Assessment, have successfully completed this apprenticeship.
Candidates will study with the RNN group both on day release at the Rotherham Campus and remotely by google classroom.
On completion the candidate will gain a Teaching assisstant level 3 qualification.
Functional skils if required.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
