What you will do in your working day

As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will work under the supervision of experienced mechanics and technicians to learn the skills and knowledge required to perform a wide range of automotive repair and maintenance tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the automotive industry and gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior mechanics with routine vehicle maintenance and repair tasks, including oil changes, brake repairs, tyre rotations, and engine diagnostics
  • Learn to use specialised tools and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform basic inspections and tests to identify vehicle issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Complete assigned coursework and training modules as part of the apprenticeship programme
  • Provide excellent customer service, communicating effectively with clients and colleagues

The training you will be getting

This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.

Working hours Please note that anyone under the age of 18 can only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours should be amended accordingly, to fall in line with the legislation.

Motor-Vation Garage is a family owned and run garage that can deal with all your motoring needs. The business was established in 1995 and we have been at the current site at 892 Christchurch Road since August 2009, before that we were in Hannington Road, Warnford Road and started off as a mobile mechanic from the back of a van!  ​
