What you will do in your working day

  • You will support the Media Officer in handling media enquiries and co-ordinating media responses across the Authority, including the preparation of reaction statements.
  • You will also support the Communications Officer in finding, researching and creating stories for the Dales newspaper and the Visitor magazine.
  • You will prepare content in line with the Authority’s vision and brand guidelines and which successfully engages the Authority’s discrete target audience groups.

The training you will be getting

You will be studying to achieve a diploma in journalism, from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) through Darlington College, on a weekly day-release arrangement.
