The successful candidate will be offered an attractive salary to start and attend Chelmsford College on day release. Those people who can drive should apply as there will be some travelling across both schools.

What you will do in your working day

To act as a key holder, carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds. The routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds. Responding to calls outside normal working hours as a result of break-ins etc. and or/the setting off of the burglar alarm(s).

Carrying out first-line repairs and maintenance which are not beyond the scope and capability of the postholder including:-

  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Painting & decorating

The training you will be getting

The successful candidate will undertake the L2 Property Maintenance apprenticeship standard which incudes day release at Chelmsford College.

Full-time caretaker.

Things to consider

This vacancy will require someone to be physically fit and able to complete manual tasks such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating as well as being responsible as a key holder for our customers renting our buildings. The shift patterns will differ enormously, you may have to open buildings at 6am and then close them at 10pm. Your work pattern will change from week to week.
