What you will do in your working day

Main responsibilities:

To learn how to:

  • Deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for
    children aged 0-5 years
  • Ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others
  • Develop partnerships with all staff / parents / carers to increase
    involvement in their child’s development
  • Be responsible for any tasks delegated by the senior leadership team
  • Complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship
  • Provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both
    indoors and outdoors, at all times
  • Deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage
    (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
  • Help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
  • Understand and work to nursery policies and procedures including
    how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to
    respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
  • Plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
  • Assist key person and become a key person
  • Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily diaries
    attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments
  • Liase closely with parents / carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement when requested
  • Work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance
    with the settings aims and objectives

The training you will be getting

Level 2 Early Years Apprenticeship with possibilities of going onto Level 3. Training will on the job with online courses. You will be allocated a mentor and an assessor.
